Prior to founding Mingchen Capital Management, Mr. YU was the Deputy CIO (Equity) in Value Partners, overseeing USD 1bn+ Asia and China portfolios. He joined Value Partners in August 2010 and was promoted to Deputy CIO (Equity) in September 2023. As the Deputy CIO (Equity), he was leading the group’s equity research and investment, while mentoring team members in research and portfolio construction.
Mr. YU was managing several funds in Value Partners, including Classic Fund, Asia Innovative Opportunities Fund, Chinese Mainland Focus Fund, etc. All the funds he managed received 4-star+ ratings from Morningstar and maintained top quartile performance during his tenure. The Asia Innovative Opportunities Fund was awarded 2023 bloomberg Businessweek: Leading Fund Excellence Award Asia – Pacific Mixed Asset Fund (Mutual Fund, 1-Year), and 2023 Fund Selector Asia – Singapore: Gold Medal – Multi-Asset. The Chinese Mainland Focus Fund was awarded 2018 Thomson Reuters Lipper Fund Awards Hong Kong: Best China Equity Fund over 10 Years, and 2020 Hong Kong Chinese Fund Industry Association & Bloomberg: Best Total Return – Greater China Equity (5-Year, Third Place).
Prior to joining Value Partners, Mr. YU worked at UBS Securities Co. Ltd. and Guotai Junan Securities Co. Ltd. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Finance from Fudan University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Xiamen University.
